Degree in Law (1980) and PhD in Social and Political Sciences (1990), currently hired as Full-time Professor (Professor in labor regime -May- 2012). He has worked as a professor and researcher at the University of the Basque Country since 1984, first in the Department of Public Law and International Studies and later in the Department of Political Science and Administration, where he was Director between 2009 and 2011. He has been visiting researcher-professor at the University of Bradford (School of Peace Studies-1986-87), Hamburg (Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Politik. Hamburg Universität 1996), and Nevada (EHU-USAC-Nevada University 1999). He is a member of the EKOPOL research team (25 researchers) of which he is coordinator and of the EMAN Research Training Unit (60 researchers) and collaborates in the Editorial Board of the journals Ecología Política, VIENTO SUR and ZER. In 1995 and 1996, he represented the Spanish environmental groups at the European Environmental Office in Brussels and remains in the schizophrenia of being a university scholar and an activist of Basque environmentalism.
